The Purpose _

After almost three years of unwavering service on the toughest trails, with numerous awards and recognitions along the way, the restless design team at HUNT saw an opportunity to update the Trail Wide wheelset to meet the evolving demands of today’s riders.

Starting with what we learnt around profile optimisation from the burlier Enduro Wide V2 project, we set out to improve upon its lighter sibling, not an easy task with an Editor’s Choice-winning wheelset. Combining the all-new 30mm internal rim profile, with new hubs and spoke configurations, results in a wheel that keeps the outward appearance of it's predecessor yet provide 20% more impact resistance.

Designed as the answer to your trail centre weekends, back country epics or days spent smashing through your local woods - a wheelset that can do it all and leave you with a big grin.

HIGH SPECIFICATION COMPONENTS _

Rims

The TrailWide rim includes details that are high on the durability factor to make sure you finish every ride with a big grin. The 30mm internal rim provides support to the tyre when you drop into a root strewn shoot or you're throttling down a high-speed section and folding a tyre is the last thing you need to happen!

Rim Profile

Like all of our wheels, the Hunt MTB line-up is designed to be used as a tubeless system. Featuring a H-Lock rim bead with 'up-kicks' to the shoulders of the rim bed secures your tyre when seated. This prevents side-to-side movement reducing the chance of burping your tyre. It creates a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. Still haven't made the switch? All our wheels are tube compatible as well.

Front Hub

Suited to match the needs of the modern trail bike rider. Featuring durable bearings and 7075-T6 series alloy axles to increase stiffness. These hubs have been selected based on their ability to perform on the most aggressive trails.

Rear Hub

We create wheels to match the needs of riders who want the most from their wheels. The Trail Wide hubs have been chosen to increase stiffness, bearing durability and overall strength of your wheelset. On the rear, the RapidEngage MTB hubs with a fast 5 degree engagement, means you will be able to clear those janky tech climbs with ease.

Spokes

We have chosen top of the line, triple butted Pillar Spokes with increased reinforcement at the spoke head. Not only are these spokes extremely lightweight, they are also able to provide a greater degree of elasticity when put under increased stress. The Pillar Spoke Reinforcement (PSR) puts more material at the spoke head, just before the J-Bend to prevent failure in this stress area.

Weight

Mountain bikers aren't concerned about weight, right? Nope! Whether you're doing a back-country epic or pedalling between stages, we have paid attention to weight to suit the type of riding they will be subjected too. For example, using the highest quality Pillar triple butted spokes with PSR (Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement) has allowed us to not only create a stronger wheel with a higher spoke count, but one which does not add a weight penalty.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh rolling-drum fatigue tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 135 kg (system weight: total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 125 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
