28 spokes laced 2-cross front and rear.  J-bend spoke interface allows for easy sourcing and replacement in remote locations.  Patented Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement (PSR) with increased 2.2mm thickness at spoke butted again just before the spoke end, providing more durability in high stress area.          Triple butted 2.0-1.6-2.0 Pillar Spokes (then 2.2 at the head for the patented Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement).  Cold drawn from high grade T302 (18/10) stainless steel wire by Sandvik Sweden.  Black stainless treatment.  All HUNT wheels are built and finished by hand, inclusive of a full quality control inspection card.

Tyres Info

HUNT recommends a 35-50mm tyre for best performance, tyre widths between 29mm and 60mm are also safe to use.   Note: best performance is usually gained by using tyre pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post about this, read here.  Tubeless-ready for lower weight and rolling resistance.  You must not exceed the maximum tyre pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tyre manufacturer if this is lower.

High Specification Components.

Rims

A strong and lightweight 6066-T6 (+34% tensile strength vs 6061-T6) heat-treated alloy rim features an asymmetric shape which is inverted from front to rear to provide balanced higher spoke tensions meaning your spokes stay tight for the long term. The rim profile is disc specific which allows higher strength-to-weight as no reinforcement is required for a braking surface. The wide rim at 29mm (25mm internal) which creates a great tyre profile with wider 35mm-50mm tyres

Rim bed

H-Lock tubeless-ready rim bed profile. H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. The H-Lock profile also locks the beads in place more securely once seated. This is especially important when running lower pressures off road.

H_Ratchet Hub

H_Ratchet 36T hubs offer a rapid 10-degree engagement angle in a reliable, easy-to-service and long-lasting ratchet drive system. 

Bearings

The heart of any wheel. Investing in them makes huge sense. We use high-grade precision sealed cartridge bearings with proprietary waterproof grease specially selected for even the worst weather.

Freehub Body

Durability is a theme for HUNT as time and money you spend fixing is time and money you cannot spend riding or upgrading your bikes. As a result, we've developed the H_CERAMIK coating to provide excellent durability and protect against cassette sprocket damage often seen on standard alloy freehub bodies

Nipples

To accompany these high-end spokes we selected brass nipples for our Hunt 4 Season wheels. Brass is strong and corrosion resistant plus it has self-lubricating properties to prevent issues that can arise from grit salt on the winter roads corroding the fine threads in alloy nipples. As well as the standard square body we chose nipples with a hex head so you can achieve precise tensioning.

We chose Pillar triple butted spokes for their lower weight and greater degree of elasticity, which improves tension consistency and resists fatigue. The PSR J-bend spokes feature increased2.2mmthickness at the spoke head, providing more material in this high stress area.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 130 kg (system weight - total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage) If the system is over 120 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.

3-Year Warranty

We are riders ourselves and will do everything we can to get you back on the road and are here to support you. We offer a comprehensive 3-year warranty on all HUNT wheels including free returns if wheels need to be inspected. Goods found to have faults outside of normal wear and tear will be repaired or replaced (subject to stock availability).
